Day 1

With a Hotel pick-up, you will enjoy a scenic country and coastal drive to Kettering, enjoy a coffee and Snack at the Bruny Island Gateway (included).

Here you will board the ferry to Bruny Island, crossing the d’Entrecasteaux Channel, one of Tasmania's most popular waterways and enjoy the beautiful scenery as you head over to Bruny Island, watching the seals frolic in the sheltered waterways.

Along the way, we will collect some island produce for morning tea. Visit Two Tree Point in Adventure Bay, where you will enjoy your rustic style picnic, with local cheese, freshly shucked oysters and wood-fired oven bread.

After morning tea, we can take you on a leisurely stroll on the Grassy Point and Penguin Island Walk – (a very easy walk….) White Wallaby are often seen along the way. We then head around Mount Mangana to Lunawanna, through the temperate rainforests and experience amazing scenery across the island. Your guide will point out many of our Tasmanian Timber species and even taste some of our Tasmanian Pepper Bushes if you are adventurous.

On the way to lunch, visit the local chocolate makers and sample some of their products.

Enjoy a late lunch at Bruny Island Premium Wines selecting from an extensive menu with a focus on local produce, Join a wine tasting and a glass of wine of your choice with your meal.

Before heading South to Cape Bruny, we will stop on a sandy shallow bay known for, Caspian Terns, Crested Terns, Sooty Oyster Catchers and Hood Plovers, a shore birders paradise.

Visit the South Bruny National Park and experience your private Tour of the Cape Bruny Lighthouse, perched above the pounding oceans and craggy coastlines of Southern Tasmania. Enjoy optional walks of varying levels. The Cape Bruny Lighthouse is a great vantage point to see Albatross soaring across the coastline and watch flocks of Shearwaters migrating and feeding on from the ocean. Courts Island just near the lighthouse is a seabird rookery.

Evening dining is at Hotel Bruny (Approx. 6:30 pm) who are world-renowned for providing a wonderful Seafood Chowder, Slow Cooked local lamb and many other hearty dishes. Wash this down with a Bruny Island Cider or local Beer… Try a few Island and Tasmanian Ciders...

Your guide will escort you to your accommodation after your evening meal. We partner with Bruny Island Escapes and offer carefully selected properties to ensure all your needs are met. The property selected for you is dependent on your group size.

Check out the Get Shucked Oyster Bar for an opportunity to purchase and taste the produce.

We then travel onto the Truganini Lookout and Neck Wildlife Zone and beach - Amazing views across Adventure Bay towards Fluted Cape, Tasman Peninsula and d’Entrecasteaux Channel. Pay respect to the original residents of Bruny Island, the Nuenonne People. The Nuenonne band occupied Bruny Island on a permanent basis and their total numbers are estimated to be some 70 people. The Nuenonne people called the island Lunawannalonna.

This name is retained in the names of two settlements on South Bruny, Alonnah and Lunawanna, meaning land across the water.
